About
what is children’s jubilee fund?
Children’s Jubilee Fund (Jubilee) was established in 1997 to provide K-12 scholarships to city-dwelling, lower-income students in order for them to attend Christian schools. In many cases, the neighborhood public schools these students would otherwise attend have been designated low-performing by the state.
But Jubilee does more than provide scholarship dollars to low-income students. We actively work toward real life change in our scholars, their families, and their communities. We provide students with academic, social, and spiritual opportunities that can help provide a way out of poverty and hopelessness. Sometimes, Jubilee scholars are the first in their family to go on to post-secondary education. Sometimes, they are the first in their family to come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
CHILDREN’S JUBILEE FUND MISSION STATEMENT
Children’s Jubilee Fund provides K-12 scholarships for low-income, city-based students to attend Christian schools.
CHILDREN’S JUBILEE FUND VISION
At Children’s Jubilee Fund, we want to see every empty seat in our network Schools filled with a student who would otherwise attend a low-performing public school. We want that student to experience the joy of growing academically, as teachers and staff help him or her explore their academic potential. We want to see that student grow socially, as he or she develops friends in a place of safety and community. We want to see that student grow spiritually, as he or she comes to know Jesus Christ and his people.
And it’s that final aspect of student growth–spiritual–that Jubilee believes is most important. Why? Because growing in relationship with Jesus is what adds meaning and purpose to the other two areas of development. Knowing Jesus makes students better and more informed learners. Knowing Jesus makes them better and more courageous and more compassionate friends and leaders. This final aspect of student growth is found in the Christian schools in our network, and it makes their–and our–work unique.
